 7/14

First port of call, Ketchikan, AK. Weather today was great, sunny and 55 degrees at 6 am. Fog caught in the mountains which burned off later in the day. Lots of Eagle sightings first thing in the morning . Interesting fact, the city is on an island with only 8 miles of roads and no connection to the rest of Alaska . Avg rainfall is 13 feet with very little snowfall each year, temperatures do not vary much from summer to winter

First up to explore was Totem Bight National Park. Many of the totem poles are 100 plus years old. Very nice short mile walk through a hemlock forest.

In the afternoon we took in the Great Alaskan Lumber Jack Show just around the corner from the cruise dock. Great show and pretty entertaining for all ages.

Afterwards we explored the town and shopped a little. Apparently, pretty expensive to live in Ketchikan with most houses of any size in the $600,000 range and one bed apts $1,600 a month. Min wage in Alaska is $10.50 p/hour so a bit of a disconnect .

We tried for a family pic when we all returned to the ship. Not easy to accomplish for sure with 19 of us and some pretty little ones.

More sights along the inter passageway route.
